About The Position

Prepare and serve meals under USDA and Child and Adult Care Food Program/School Lunch Program guidelines and assist with general kitchen operations for the families, kids, and staff who live, play, learn and work at the YWCA. This position includes a 90-day evaluation period, after which performance will be reviewed. Working schedule is Monday-Tuesday 9:30am-7pm and Thursday-Friday 6:30am-4pm.

Requirements

  • Ability to work scheduled hours on a regular basis, some weekends and evenings required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve shelter breakfast, lunch, dinner, childcare snacks and saved meals according to pre-planned menus, health department guidelines, and safe serve techniques.
  • Clean and stock dining area and refreshment counter periodically during shift.
  • Temperatures of food, refrigeration, and dishwashing equipment are to be taken and recorded as required for shift meal and clean up.
  • Complete cleaning duties as listed on daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Assist co-workers with putting away food orders and first in/first out rotation of food.
  • Clean and close kitchen at the end of shift which includes cleaning and stocking of kitchen, serving and dining areas, garbage removal, shutting down all kitchen equipment, steam tables, ovens etc. and locking up all food service and warming kitchen doors.
  • Attend to clients’ and staff needs with excellent customer service and professionalism.
  • Meals must be prepared with proper portion sizes for all residents, children and adults.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained properly, and work areas are clean, safe and orderly.
  • Keep all records necessary in accordance with agency, contractual, and licensing requirements.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by the Food Services Coordinator.
  • Must be able to pass Department of Health and Human Services criminal background check and meet I-9 requirements.
