About The Position

The Cook at Cedar River Bistro plays an important role in delivering a high-quality dining experience for our guests. This position is responsible for preparing and presenting food that meets the restaurant’s standards for quality, consistency, taste, and safety. Working as part of the kitchen team, the Cook helps ensure meals are prepared efficiently during service while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. This role also supports menu execution, daily prep, and overall kitchen operations. Success in this position contributes directly to guest satisfaction and the reputation of Cedar River Bistro.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a cook in a restaurant, resort, or similar food service environment
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices
  • Strong cooking and food preparation skills
  • Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation standards
  • Attention to detail and commitment to food quality
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary degree or certification from a recognized program
  • Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Familiarity with a variety of cooking techniques and cuisines
  • Creativity in food presentation and menu ideas
  • Broad knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and flavor profiles

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner while maintaining consistency and quality
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food storage areas
  • Assist with food preparation, plating, and service during busy meal periods
  • Support menu planning and seasonal specials as directed by kitchen leadership
  • Monitor product levels and assist with inventory control and supply ordering
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen and restaurant team members to ensure smooth daily operations
