About The Position

The cook, under direction of the Captain and Hines Furlong Line operations department, is responsible for cooking meals aboard Hines Furlong Line vessels, ordering groceries, checking in grocery orders, various housekeeping operations, and other duties as may be required.

Requirements

  • Able to secure a valid TWIC
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and submit to random DOT testing requirements
  • Must pass pre-employment physical

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Galley area is clean and sanitary at all times for food preparation & service
  • Ensure that meals are prepared at least three (3) times per day (or as otherwise directed by the captain)
  • Take immediate responsibility for making sure that meals are prepared hot, and as nutritious as possible
  • Ensure that food storage is proper, sanitary & checked for possible spoilage, or other contamination
  • Ensure that leftovers are properly stored and labeled with dates of expiration
  • Be well aware of your particular vessel budget, inventory, and how this pertains to your grocery order
  • Prepare a weekly meal schedule ((3 per day)) and get approval from the captain if required prior to preparation
  • Rotate pantry stock when receiving grocery orders
  • Cooperate and have an excellent working attitude when dealing with the crew
