About The Position

The Salvation Army Midland Division Corps Camp Mihaska located in Bourbon, Missouri, is looking for a cook. This individual is expected to perform all functions of a Camp cook. This includes but is not limited to ensuring efficient operation of the kitchen and dining area; preparation and serving of meals; and clean-up of kitchen and dining area. This is an as needed position, 19 hours per week, with starting pay of $15.00 per hour. 1466 Hwy "N", Bourbon, Missouri 65441

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year cooking experience. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Able to comply with recipes, safety handling instructions and job description.
  • Must have or obtain within the orientation period a valid food handling certificate.
  • Able to prepare meals in large quantities.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid driver’s license and pass TSA MVR check is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food.
  • Comply with state health regulations in the operation of the kitchen, including maintenance of proper sanitation by wearing plastic gloves, hair nets, and aprons.
  • Sanitize all cooking utensils.
  • Ensure dining room is set up and tables and floors are clean before and after meals.
  • Keep kitchen refrigerators, walk-in refrigerator, freezer, and all drawers and cabinets clean and organized at all times.
  • Keep all foods in the refrigerators labeled with date and contents.
  • Keep and maintain a daily temperature log of food being served, as well as all refrigerators and freezers.
  • Operate necessary kitchen equipment for food preparation and clean-up.
  • Lift and carry cooking materials and supplies.
  • Attend necessary state certification classes and staff meetings.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and treat clients and staff with respect.
  • Report any damage or theft of kitchen items to supervisor.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others’ property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers and supervisors.
