Responsibilities

Prepares meal ingredients as directed by the head chef, senior chef, or other staff
Prepares fresh produce by peeling, cutting, and portioning
Cleans, cuts, prepares, and cooks meat, fish, or poultry to a safe temperature
Prepares simple dishes such as breads or salads
Mixes or prepares condiments, dressings, and sauces
Prepares and cooks various items according to special dietary or nutritional requirements
Bakes breads, rolls, and pastries
Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies
Washes cooking equipment such as pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other pieces
Develops, compiles, and maintains food records regarding use and expenditures
Ensures the cleanliness and functional operation of galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas by routinely cleaning and inspecting each piece.
Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards
Following all points of SOP for the opening and closing of the kitchen
Supporting safe work habits and a safe working environment at all times
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with daily menus, resident preferences, and dietary guidelines.
Ensure high standards of food presentation, portion control, and flavor consistency.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate timely meal service for residents’ dining and special events.
Follow all recipe and plating instructions as directed by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation in compliance with food safety standards.
Label, date, and properly store all food items and ingredients to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
Monitor food inventory and communicate supply needs or shortages to the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring accuracy and quality of incoming items.
Support kitchen opening and closing procedures, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning tasks.
Uphold safe work practices and immediately report any safety concerns or equipment issues.
Accommodate special requests from residents with professionalism and attention to dietary restrictions.
Contribute to a positive kitchen culture through teamwork, reliability, and a commitment to service excellence.
