About The Position

Laurel Heights Hospital is a 112-bed facility located in Atlanta Ga. We are dedicated to providing youth with compassionate mental health treatment that encourages self-responsibility and personal growth. We provide psychiatric treatment to children and adolescents that present with a broad range of psychiatric, behavioral disorders and autism. A clinically skilled multidisciplinary team works to partner with the youth and family to accomplish their goals in a supportive and therapeutic environment. The COOKS are expected to maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer service interactions, concentrate on work amidst distractions, consistently meet deadlines, and finish all food preparation at specified serving times. They must be flexible in work hours to meet patient and organization operating needs, read and comprehend recipes, adjust mathematical measurements, use various kitchen equipment, work independently in a restricted physical environment for extended periods, perform several tasks concurrently, and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Four years working experience as a cook in a similar setting
  • Ability to maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer service interactions
  • Ability to adjust recipes to achieve desired results
  • Ability to read and comprehend recipes or instructions on prepackaged products
  • Ability to read, convert and adjust mathematical measurements for recipe adjustments
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers and dishwashers
  • Knowledge of the essential hygiene factors involved in food preparation
  • Knowledge of cleansing products and the appropriate methods of cleansing a variety of surfaces
  • Ability to work independently, in a restricted physical environment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently
  • Skills in maintaining information as highly confidential

  • Successful completion of CPR certification
  • Age-specific training
  • Current patient aggression management training within 90 days of employment
