About The Position

We are looking for a full time cook/kitchen staff to provide aid in preparing meals for staff and children in care as well as maintaining a clean and functioning kitchen and dining area. All New Horizons’ Staff are expected to study, practice and operate within the New Horizons’ Philosophy of Keeping Kids First. Keeping Kids First requires that every decision and action be motivated by and geared toward meeting the highest need of the individual child . New Horizons will not tolerate anyone who is not committed to keeping kids safe from abuse, neglect and exploitation. Responsibilities include: Keep Kids Safe! Read and follow the New Horizons’ Employee Handbook; Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner meals during assigned duty hours; Ensure compliance with all applicable standards and codes; Maintain a clean work environment; Attend staff meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, and any other programs that assure the completion of the required annual training hours; Implement New Horizons’ Philosophy and all training received; Stay up-to-date on New Horizons’ policies and procedures and licensing standards and interpret them to kids as necessary; Be aware of kids’ habits, interests, and any special needs; Provide a safe environment; and Be able to intervene when necessary to ensure each kid’s safety. Qualifications: Be at least 21 years of age; Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED); Possess a working knowledge of food preparation, nutrition, and be able to prepare food from a menu or recipe; Be willing to fill in wherever needed to get the job completed; Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills; Possess the ability to work well with children; Possess extensive prior experience that demonstrates their cognitive ability to assist the child in difficult, crisis and demanding times; and Work under the direct supervision of the Chef with a moderate level of discretion and judgment. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Possess a working knowledge of food preparation, nutrition, and be able to prepare food from a menu or recipe
