About The Position

Department: 11903 High Point Medical Center - Food and Nutrition Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hou rs Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: variable, rotating weekend Pay Range $20.40 - $30.60 Education: High School Diploma or GED General Studies Required 2+ years Cooking Required Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions. General knowledge of cleaning methods, food service equipment and food preparation and service. Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor Ability to maintain and adhere to safety and sanitation standards particularly regarding: personal cleanliness, food preparation/holding/service and equipment. Basic math skills to scale up/down recipe size. - Basic cooking skills and knowledge including safe knife handling. Knowledge of standard knife cuts and methods of preparation. Knowledge and ability to demonstrate various methods of preparation including: grilling, frying, baking, steaming, sauteing and braising. Ability to produce the five mother sauces. Job Specific Duties : Food Preparation Cooks food for areas including: cold food production, baking, grill, prep, entree, veg, line, catering. Adheres to recipes utilizing basic math skill to adjust quantities as needed. Uses weight and volume measurements to ensure recipe compliance. Transportation of Goods Transports items from storeroom to kitchen, from kitchen to retail and from cooking equipment to service equipment Sanitation Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas, including dish room. Washes dishes by hand or by machine. Quality Control Assists in recipe testing and development. Utilizes FIFO food rotation, labelling and dating to ensure the quality of food. Evaluates quality of food using taste, smell and appearance. Pulls food from service and brings to the attention of the supervisor if not meeting quality standards. Professionalism Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules. Practices teamwork and adheres to Standards of Behavior. Collaboration Works with others respectfully and openly; provides help to achieve shared goals. Service: Uses appropriate methods to clearly convey information to others in an engaging way, which helps others understand and retain the message. Requirements
