About The Position

Under supervision, assists in planning, preparing, cooking and serving meals and cleaning the kitchen and surrounding work area at the Muckleshoot Senior Center or other designated sites. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well being of it’s members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or equivalent
State of Washington Food Handler’s Permit
Six (6) months of commercial cooking experience or experience preparing a variety of food in large quantities is required.
Knowledge of food preparation and cooking
Knowledge of food service equipment
Knowledge of basic nutritional guidelines
Knowledge of Washington State Health and Fire codes
Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
Skill in cooking, baking and serving high-quality, nutritious meals
Skill in oral and written communications
Skill in working as a team member
Frequently required to stand, bend, reach, and lift, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Frequently exposed to high temperatures and liquids while cooking.
Occasionally exposed to freezing temperatures while storing and retrieving food from cold storage.
Continuous use of close vision.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
State of Washington Food Handler’s Permit
A valid Washington State driver’s license may be required at time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
