This position assists the Cooks in preparing, serving, and sanitation of the dining facility, equipment, and surfaces. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down the serving line, keeping dining and kitchen areas clean and organized, notifying staff of items needing replenishment, rotating perishable items, serving students, staff, and guests, assisting with dishes, changing and emptying trash, and maintaining proper attire. The role also involves assisting with programming and activity events, and performing food preparation duties such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits; cleaning, cutting, and grinding meats, poultry, and seafood; breading food items; stirring and straining soups and sauces; weighing or measuring ingredients; carrying food items; and storing foods. The Cook Helper is also responsible for cleaning and sanitizing kitchen and commons areas, equipment, and utensils; segregating and removing garbage; distributing supplies; assisting in inventory; operating kitchen equipment; and adhering to safety and sanitary rules, company policies, and professional conduct.
