About The Position

The Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is unlike any place you have worked! In short, we help the kids no one else can—we help them find and become who they are. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Cook/Food Service Nutrition employee to join our team! Wage: $19/hr DOE What you will do: As a Food Service Nutrition team member, you will be responsible for meal preparation kitchen-related duties in a residential treatment environment. The Food Service Employee must demonstrate skills relating to food service and have some computer experience. ServSafe and sanitation training is a plus. While working in a residential treatment facility, you may encounter children during their most difficult moments and will apply knowledge gained in trauma-informed-care training for understanding and compassion. Schedule: Shift rotation of 6 am to 2 pm; 8 am to 4 pm and 10 am to 6pm with every 3rd weekend when fully staffed Purpose: Keeping residents and staff safe and healthy by providing basic human needs and first impressions Monitor and maintain a clean and safe food services environment Meal planning, preparation & distribution Adhere to state and federal nutritional guidelines relating to public schools May work independently or as part of a team, to include working with outside vendors and subcontractors Display respect for all voices, all cultures and all perspectives Participate in safety initiatives, including attendance at safety meetings Caring: Creating a warm, welcoming and safe environment that gives dignity to the youth we serve Build relationships with residents/staff to help meet their needs Responsible for kitchen & dining room clean up (i.e. - dishes, sanitizing tables, mopping/vacuuming, etc.) Assist in ordering food/maintaining supplies Documentation of food served to residents and staff Special event planning, preparation and serving Keep supervisors and staff informed of any concerns or observations regarding the kitchen or dining area Learning: Always inventive and open-minded, exploring alternatives and encourage new ideas Stay up-to-date on trainings as required by licensure Assist in facility inspections for health, safety and licensing requirements Practice trauma-informed care and apply knowledge learned in training while working in a residential treatment facility Demonstrate competency in application of policy and procedures Ensure daily tasks are completed Offer constructive feedback that facilitates growth

Requirements

  • Must be 21 or older at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must pass a background check, including criminal, abuse, and motor vehicle
  • demonstrate skills relating to food service
  • have some computer experience
