About The Position

This position is responsible for safe and sanitary food preparation and service while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all Tyson policies and procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Team member in this role has a primary responsibility to prepare and cook food for the Tyson Café. Food preparation will be accomplished using daily prep lists, recipes, menus and direction from managers, food prep duties include assessing food quality, washing, cutting, and seasoning foods. Food is prepared through a variety of cooking methods including roasting, frying, steaming, sauteing, braising and more. Candidates for this role should have a basic understanding of cooking techniques, knife skills, basic kitchen terminology, as well as a strong desire to grow their knowledge and gain proficiency in their culinary techniques. Candidates should possess strong time management and organizational skills, be able to prioritize tasks and multitask when needed. This role functions as a part of the overall kitchen team, and as such, candidate should be a strong team player and have a focus on team success. Other aspects of the job may include tasks such as: receiving and rotating supplies, working food action stations, café guest interaction, and occasionally assist with dish washing and catering. Education/Experience: Preferred candidates will be able to prove a minimum of 12 months of professional work experience in a foodservice or hospitality role; and/or currently enrolled in, or a graduate of a culinary, hospitality, foodservice or related field of study in a continuing education institution.

  • Ability to push, pull, lift or carry up to 50lbs, bend; Twist, stoop and reach frequently for the duration of shift, as well as walk or stand for 8 hours on hard surfaces.
  • Ability to withstand routine and repetitive work for the duration of shift.
  • Ability to tolerate hot and cold temperatures for extended periods of time, while performing job functions.
  • Ability to work safely and unrestricted with ware-washing and kitchen equipment.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills needed to read, comprehend, and execute kitchen recipes
  • Basic math skills, basic understanding of measurements & currency.
  • High School Diploma and 6 months minimum in foodservice.
  • Rehire eligibility: cannot have worked for Tyson 3 or more times.
  • Waiting period for rehire - 180 days.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred candidates will be able to prove a minimum of 12 months of professional work experience in a foodservice or hospitality role; and/or currently enrolled in, or a graduate of a culinary, hospitality, foodservice or related field of study in a continuing education institution.
  • Servsafe or food handlers' certification is preferred, but NOT required.
