About The Position

We are seeking a hardworking and compassionate Cook 1 to provide food services to our youth residents and staff at the Loysville Youth Development Center. By producing delicious and nutritious food, you will allow us to continue ensuring that every resident receives individualized treatment services. In this position, you will be a lead worker responsible for food service work in the performance of specialized production and cooking tasks. Your work will involve receiving food and supply items, preparing recipe ingredients, and participating in recipe standardization by completing production calculations and adjusting recipes as required. You will prepare assigned menu items and follow prescribed diet modifications in order to provide safe, appetizing, and wholesome food to students and staff. Some of your duties will include participating in cleaning equipment and coordinating routine food production tasks. Additionally, you will provide basic food service leadership instruction and skill demonstration on the job to students and new department employees.

Requirements

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in cooking or quantity food preparation; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
