About The Position

The convenience store cashier's job is to assist customers with check-out, process payments, and maintain the store. They also provide customer service, help with product selection, and follow regulations for selling alcohol, tobacco, and gas.

Requirements

• Cash handling: Manage cash payments, provide change, and balance the register
• Multitasking: Complete multiple tasks efficiently and on time
• Basic math: Calculate the amount due and give exact change

Responsibilities

• Customer service: Greet customers, provide information, and resolve complaints
• Processing payments: Take cash, credit, debit, or check payments, and issue receipts
• Maintaining store environment: Keep the checkout area clean and organized, and stock shelves
• Following regulations: Verify customer age when selling alcohol, tobacco, or lottery tickets, and follow regulations for selling gas
• Managing inventory: Check stock levels, report low stock, and handle returns and exchanges
• Calculating totals: Calculate the total cost of a purchase, and reconcile the total sales at the end of the shift
