Requirements

  • Pursuing an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in an engineering technology program which could include one of the following programs: Mechatronics, Automation Robotics Engineering Technology, Industrial Instrumentation, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, Or similar relevant program.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, or automation concepts from coursework.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer technology, including MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to complete OSHA 10 Safety Training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, adapting quickly to shifting priorities and workload demands.
  • Consistently demonstrate professional engineering ethics and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability and willingness to travel if needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or exposure to industrial or HVAC/commercial controls systems, automation systems, instrumentation, or PLC/DDC programming.
  • Familiarity with reading engineering drawings or schematics.
  • HMI or SCADA programming experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design software (such as AutoCAD), for assisting with control schematics and installation drawings.
  • Hands‑on lab/project experience with control components or automation systems.
  • Interest in building systems, construction environments, or commercial HVAC.
  • Comfortable working in both office and construction site settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing control documents, including schematic drawings, point lists, sequences of operation, and specification sections.
  • Systems Design & Drafting: Assist in the creation of electrical control panel layouts and schematics using AutoCAD, EPLAN, and Visio.
  • Support development of control hardware design and installation drawings.
  • Help compile simple HVAC equipment selections and bill of materials.
  • Participate in internal/external training to learn control strategies, code requirements, and control system implementation practices.
  • Begin developing programming skills with PLC and/or DDC control software.
  • Learn the basics of SCADA and/or DDC graphical interface software.
  • Assist with programming and graphics for small HVAC or lighting control tasks.
  • Support commissioning activities such as point checks, functional testing, and client acceptance processes.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, submittal reviews, punch lists, and field inspections.
  • Conduct site visits to collect equipment information and observe system operations.
  • Work closely with Controls, Commissioning, and other internal teams to support project delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned.
