About The Position

Within our 600-person manufacturing facility in Roswell , Leprino is seeking a Controls System Technician (salaried position) to support plant automation and control systems, support reliable production, and enable larger levels of cheese and dairy ingredient growth. What You’ll Do: Build, maintain, and improve plant control systems that support safe, reliable production across the facility. Write, update, and support PLC and HMI programs, including Wonderware and PanelView environments. Troubleshoot field devices, PLC hardware, drives, and instrumentation to restore equipment quickly and accurately. Integrate PLCs, HMIs, and process controls to improve system reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. Support controls-related capital projects from early design through installation and start-up. Lead smaller controls upgrades and system improvements that strengthen long-term equipment reliability. Train maintenance technicians on controls concepts to support growth through the Pay-For-Skills program. Present clear, practical training to operators on newly installed or modified control systems. Coordinate closely with maintenance planners and supervisors to scope materials, estimate labor, and complete work as planned. Review completed controls work and provide follow-up guidance to support consistent outcomes. Participate in plant controls on-call coverage and weekend support as scheduled. Contribute to food safety, quality, and safety practices while supporting transparent communication across teams.

Requirements

  • A 2-year Associate’s degree in Controls Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a closely related maintenance-focused field.
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting equipment reliability or plant maintenance, with education substituting for experience where applicable.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI programming, including troubleshooting PLC hardware and field devices.
  • Experience working with AC frequency drives and industrial instrumentation, such as flow, pressure, and temperature devices.
  • Availability to participate in the Controls On-Call Program and scheduled weekend coverage.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Controls experience within a food, dairy, or high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced experience reading and using ladder logic to diagnose and resolve control system issues.
  • Experience training or mentoring maintenance technicians or operators on control systems and upgrades.
