Job Description: Controls Specialist – Tech support Job Summary: Control Systems & Building Automation Install, test, commission, and maintain control systems, including HVAC, electrical, lighting, and other building automation systems. Monitor system performance and adjust programming or parameters to optimize efficiency and energy usage. Respond to alarms, alerts, and system issues, diagnosing problems and implementing corrective actions. Maintain documentation and records of system configurations, maintenance, and performance metrics. Ensure all systems comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations. IT Systems Setup & Support Lead initial setup and ongoing support of IT systems for offices, trailers, or workspaces, including laptops, desktops, printers, shared devices, and mobile equipment. Design, deploy, and maintain wired and wireless networks capable of supporting 50+ users per site. Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Provide hands-on IT support for personnel, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues. Maintain IT assets, including equipment tracking, issuance, replacement, and spares. Access Control & Time-Tracking Systems Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot badge-based access and time-tracking systems. Configure badge readers, access points, and software, ensuring alignment with HR, payroll, and project reporting requirements. Maintain user permissions and generate reports for attendance, labor hours, and site utilization. Collaboration & Coordination Work closely with engineering, operations, and IT teams to coordinate system installations, upgrades, and ongoing operations. Act as primary onsite point of contact for IT and control system issues, communicating outages, risks, and resolutions to leadership. Support site expansions, relocations, or reconfigurations with minimal disruption. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate records of system configurations, network layouts, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. Generate performance, energy usage, and system status reports for management review. Security & Compliance Enforce IT security standards, device encryption, and access permissions. Ensure control systems and access/time-tracking systems comply with safety, regulatory, and company requirements. Support audits, access reviews, and other compliance activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong technical skills in both IT systems (networks, devices, software) and building control systems (HVAC, BMS, SCADA).
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and control system issues independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting 50+ onsite users and coordinating multiple systems simultaneously.
