About The Position

Pacific Coast Producers, a leading private label food producer located in Northern California, is seeking an experience and innovative Controls Specialist at its Production Facility in Oroville, CA. PCP is investing in its people and advancing a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America. Our Oroville facility produces pears, peaches, fruit cocktails, and employs 169 full-time workers year-round and a seasonal work force of over 1,200. The Controls Specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining the day-to-day operations of the facility’s control systems and infrastructure. The Control Specialist will oversee and perform PLC upgrades and modifications on production equipment and work closely with the maintenance team to support the daily operations of electrical, instrumentation, and controls departments to ensure product quality and production efficiency.

Requirements

  • Successful candidates must be highly motivated and will have electrical/industrial controls engineering experience, possess mechanical aptitude, and be skilled in three phase electrical distribution and control, have competent knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E, and thorough knowledge of instrumentation and controls in a manufacturing process environment.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field or at least five years of experience in electrical/industrial controls
  • Experience with project management software, industrial instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Experience with food processing systems, operations, and practices; or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to communicate with vendors and contractors from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to bring projects from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor/supervise Electrical and Instrumentation personnel and work one-on-one with individuals—including controls techs, electricians, and instrument techs—to ensure use of proper methods of electrical maintenance and training.
  • Lead and assist Electrical and Instrumentation personnel in complex troubleshooting and control strategy.
  • Be responsible for electrical installations, maintenance and safety including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Build and activate new automation projects/including mechanical assembly, wiring, pneumatics routing, I/O checkouts, and production qualifications.
  • Create/update/modify electrical pneumatics and fluid schematics
  • Perform preventive maintenance for controls and organize electrical/control parts inventory
  • Be responsible for investigating and incorporating energy conservation and plant operating efficiency opportunities.
  • Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and implement cost reduction ideas.
