About The Position

CLX Engineering’s Controls Field Technician II is a skilled industrial electrical technician with demonstrated field proficiency. A Field Tech II is becoming proficient in concepts of controls systems and demonstrates the ability efficiently support troubleshooting and commissioning with Integration Engineers at client sites and during project completions. Field Tech II’s are required to travel to clients and work with some independence supporting trouble shooting and commissioning tasks. Ideal candidates are comfortable working in high pressure situations and interact with both external and internal customers to support the efficient resolution of problems. Controls Field Technician II’s are non-exempt level, hourly paid positions reporting through the engineering department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or AS Degree with equivalent, applied experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the electrical field
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to stay calm in high pressure situations
  • Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting expertise working with I/O and PLC systems, including interfacing with PLCs, without the requirement to code or edit PLC programs.
  • Must be able and willing to and to have: a clean driving record work non-standard hours (nights and weekends) travel locally with little or no notice travel non-locally with notice (up to 35% - 50% on occasion) must be willing to work night shifts and non-standard shifts to accommodate project hours or slow periods.
  • obtain a passport and pass a background check
  • pass initial background checks and drug screening
  • pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA level)
  • Demonstrated comfort working with a variety of standard hand tools
  • Present a professional demeanor and appearance

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD &/or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience editing or troubleshooting PLC Software (Studio or Logix 5000) or equivalent (i.e., Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi)

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics, including working with I/O and PLC systems and interfacing with PLCs without modifying or editing PLC programs
  • Support and work safely around PLC-controlled equipment and electrical systems
  • Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and stakeholders, maintaining professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations
  • Maintain a clean driving record to support travel and job-related transportation needs
  • Work non-standard schedules as required, including nights and weekends
  • Travel to project sites as needed, including extended assignments of up to six months or more; typical schedules include extended onsite rotations followed by scheduled time off at home
  • Adapt to changing project demands and take on additional responsibilities as assigned
