The Controls Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of control systems for equipment used in the production of Jeep Gladiator chassis and tire and wheel assemblies. This role focuses on establishing and maintaining robust maintenance policies and procedures to support seamless production operations. The Controls Engineer provides technical expertise to enhance equipment performance, minimize downtime, and deliver exceptional support to Production and Maintenance teams while meeting stringent quality and cost objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the implementation of new equipment or control system upgrades for production lines. Develop and maintain control system programs (PLC, HMI, SCADA) to ensure optimal equipment functionality. Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues to minimize production downtime, working closely with maintenance technicians. Be on call for emergency support for controls related issues as special case needs arise at the plant Create and update maintenance procedures, including preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, for control systems and automation equipment. Evaluate and recommend upgrades or modifications to control systems to enhance reliability, safety, and efficiency. Provide technical support for equipment commissioning, ensuring proper integration of control systems during new product launches or engineering changes. Develop and maintain documentation, including electrical schematics, control system configurations, and standardized work instructions (SWIs). Coordinate with equipment vendors to address technical issues and implement recommended improvements. Will be required to provide input on the control system requirements and capabilities during high level management meetings. Identify and implement cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements in control system maintenance and operations. Train and mentor maintenance team members on control system operations, troubleshooting, and best practices. Work with cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues from customers, focusing on control system performance. Recommend equipment or software purchases to maintain cutting-edge control system technology. Support strategic planning initiatives by submitting timely maintenance and control system improvement plans. Perform special assignments as delegated by management to support plant operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in maintenance or controls engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive production.
  • In-depth knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley), HMI development, and SCADA systems.
  • Strong understanding of automotive production equipment, including robotics (e.g., Fanuc) and automated assembly systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex control systems and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including control system software and Microsoft Office.
  • Korean/English bilingual skills for effective communication with Korean equipment vendors would be an added benefit, but not required.
