With safety at the forefront of our minds, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo®, Beneful®, Cat Chow®, Dog Chow®, Friskies®, Purina ONE®, and Pro Plan®. As a Controls Engineer, you'll provide controls engineering leadership and support to the production, engineering, and maintenance teams. In this role, you'll work directly with the Plant Controls Group, specifically with PLC programming, project execution, HMI/SCADA, and instrument calibrations to drive continuous improvement on automated processes and equipment. Prepare to design and approve electrical installations per codes and standards, ensuring the reliability and performance of site power distribution systems through technical oversight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years' of experience with electrical troubleshooting, PLC logic system design, technical data interpretation, and hardware application specification in an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years' of experience with electrical troubleshooting, PLC logic system design, technical data interpretation, and hardware application specification in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide PLC and HMI/SCADA software and hardware support for the factory
  • Assist in scope development, requirements, and objectives for electrical and controls projects
  • Coordinate and implement control system software and hardware upgrades
  • Develop and maintain the long-term electrical and controls infrastructure plan for the factory
  • Maintain current and complete electrical and controls as-built documentation
  • Assist in maintenance staff training and development
