About The Position

The Controls Engineer plays a crucial role in the engineering, design, and manufacturing of equipment across various markets. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong technical, exceptional problem-solving skills, and effective team communication abilities. The Controls Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions, particularly in the production of pump stations, reverse osmosis/water treatment equipment, control panels, power distribution equipment, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (2+ years) in controls engineering for various applications.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, controls, and relevant calculations.
  • Experience with programming software such as RSLogix / Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, EcoStruxure Machine Expert, SoMove, Vijeo, Unity Pro, Wonderware, Ignition, and Simatic Step 7 / TIA Portal.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, UL) and regulations related to control panel design and electrical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot design-related issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with motor control design and pump control is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with systems integration or as a machine builder/OEM is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with MQTT and Ignition is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, program, and maintain PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems for our equipment using industry-standard platforms.
  • Ensure control systems meet specified functionality and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design control systems that integrate seamlessly with our packaged equipment.
  • Select appropriate hardware components, including sensors, actuators, and controllers.
  • Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using CAD software like AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Perform designs and engineering in accordance with job specifications and governing code bodies such as UL508a, UL67, UL891, and NEC.
  • Integrate control systems with equipment components such as motors, pumps, valves, and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues, including hardware and software problems.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of control systems to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of control system designs, configurations, and programming code.
  • Ensure control systems comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams and external customers on the operation and maintenance of control systems.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure the successful integration of control systems.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in control system technology.
