Position Overview GEA is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team based in our brand-new state of the art facility located in Janesville, WI. As the Electrical Controls Engineer, you would be responsible for all aspects of electrical, automation and control systems the design, development, and production of electrical control equipment and PLC/HMI software for high-speed centrifuges.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent in Electro-Mechanical Technology
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant hands-on experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfort working with AC/DC systems and 3-phase power
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and schematics
  • Familiarity with control systems, process automation, and industrial networking
  • Experience with programming PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
  • Ability to travel up to 40% across the U.S. and Canada
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provides electrical design, development, and programming based on approved P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagram) conferring with Team members and management, as necessary. May also require exercising independent judgment.
  • Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
  • Performs pre-approved engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints.
  • Design and develop electrical panels including machinery controls
  • Integrate components into the final design.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the design and change if necessary.
  • Estimate cost, reliability, and safety factors.
  • Use computers extensively to produce and analyze designs.
  • Generate specifications for components.
  • Supports the electrical designer and purchasing in assembling bid/approval drawing packages
  • May assist in the supervision/training of engineers during development stage
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Reviews industry policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Reviews reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine or address problems.
  • Provide engineering and technical support for implementation and integration of control systems to ensure adequate and reliable operation
  • Provides electrical and controls support to customers and GEA personnel as needed, including troubleshooting, and hardware/software modifications.
  • Troubleshoots and accomplishes minor program changes in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s).
