About The Position

This Controls Designer is responsible for developing electrical and pneumatic schematics and electrical panel layouts for next‑generation packaging and handling machinery. This role contributes directly to R&D by exploring new design approaches, integrating emerging technologies, and transforming conceptual ideas into feasible engineering solutions. Ensures all designs meet product specifications, technical requirements, and project timelines while applying creativity, experimentation, and innovative problem‑solving.

Requirements

  • Familiar with EPlan or other electrical design software
  • Demonstrates computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Demonstrates a brilliant imagination
  • Capable of designing new concepts and standards
  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a 3 – 6 month time span
  • Exhibits clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Displays great attention to detail

  • Shows organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Develops electrical schematics and control panel layouts using EPlan software
  • Works with technicians and validation engineers to update electrical schematics and control panels
  • Develops solutions to improve the controls design process
  • Develops standards for panel design, layout and wiring and verifies they are met
  • Identifies and validates new and innovative control solutions for use in future products
  • Applies electrical standards compliant to all appropriate national and international standards (including but not limited to UL code, NEC, EE, CE, IEE, CSA, etc.)
  • Manages the panel construction area (safe, efficient, and organized)
  • Meets with automation programmers to determine electrical components needed
  • Designs safety circuit to ensure a safe machine is developed
  • Provides suggestions for design improvements or changes during all phases of machine design
  • Assists with electrical troubleshooting during debug phase of machine development
  • Collaborate with sister companies to standardize controls architecture across the Körber ecosystem, ensuring cross‑platform consistency and seamless interoperability when different products are deployed together
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area
  • Shows a strong eagerness to learn and a positive attitude everyday
  • Attends and participates in company meetings
  • Work on special projects as needed
  • Take responsibility across divisions for assigned tasks and topic
