About The Position

As a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer you will perform C&I functions for space flight and non-space flight hardware for the NASA Propulsion Test branch at Marshall Space Flight Center. The C&I engineer will: · Support senior engineers with the testing of launch vehicle systems, sub-systems and elements. · Support senior engineers with the development of test article controls, instrumentation, and data systems. o Support senior engineers with the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Facility Operation Procedures (FOPs), Facility Activation Plans (FAPs), and Data analyses.

Requirements

Prefer an Electrical Engineering student from an ABET accredited institution at the junior/senior level.
Experience with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with PLCs development and operation is a plus.
Familiarity with software development for GUIs is a plus.
Familiarity in the use of data systems, pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, flowmeters and strain gages are a plus.
Familiarity with OSHA and ANSI standards.

Responsibilities

Coordination with NASA project level customers across organizations to ensure mission success.
Work with a diverse team of civil servants and contractors to design, develop, setup, and perform propulsion and structural testing on space flight qualification hardware, and other mission critical hardware.
Participate in safety meetings, task meetings, design reviews, and test readiness reviews as requested to support ASED and customer requirements.
Develop and deliver reports and presentations as requested to support ASED and customer requirements via Power Point and other various software packages.
Perform safety and certification training to support ASED and customer requirements.
