Position type: Hourly We are seeking a motivated Controls Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Programming, or Networking and Communication, with a strong interest in controls and automation. This position will support the development and testing of logistics system components. You’ll work closely with a cross-functional team to generate controls documentation, layouts, and descriptions, while contributing to process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Programming, or Networking and Communication
  • Interest in controls, automation, and industrial systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Available to complete the entire 3-6 month assignment
  • Have the right to work in the U.S. without restriction
  • Outstanding problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Accomplished computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and database experience
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in cross-functional teams to deliver concrete project deliverables in a timely manner
  • In order to conform with U.S. government regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)3, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and network systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and testing logistics system building blocks
  • Generate and maintain controls documentation, including layouts and tagging
  • Support network setup and configuration tasks
  • Conduct audits of network panels and devices
  • Learn and apply PLC and HMI configuration and programming concepts
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve system performance
