About The Position

The Controller at Associated Packaging, Inc. is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, including accounts payable, cash applications, treasury management, fixed assets, general ledger, and financial statement reporting. This role ensures the accurate and timely issuance of financial statements and has the potential for expanded responsibilities as the individual gains a thorough understanding of existing accounting processes. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in a Controller role or increased responsibilities.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP's, and macros).
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Superior attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across different organizational levels.

  • Experience with financial planning and analysis.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, lead, and retain accounting staff including Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable Coordinators, and Cash Application Specialist.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions including Accounts Payable, Cash Applications, Treasury Management, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, and Financial Statement Reporting.
  • Lead and manage all tax compliance including federal income tax, multi-state and local income tax, and sales and use tax processes.
  • Manage all treasury management functions and banking processes.
  • Develop and maintain financial and accounting policies to ensure compliance with GAAP and timely financial statements.
  • Manage monthly and annual year-end close processes including journal entry preparation and account reconciliation.
  • Develop and review monthly corporate financial reporting including P&L statements and cash flow statements.
  • Implement policies for proper internal controls and business practices.
  • Respond to inquiries from executives regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
  • Coordinate the annual review process with external auditors and maintain relationships with audit partners.
  • Assist in the conversion of the ERP system to NetSuite, managing the creation of accounting processes.
