About The Position

Controller will coordinate and manage daily general accounting functions in project accounting in construction industry. This position manages tight deadlines, competing priorities and a full range of accounting activities including general ledger, financial reporting, variance analysis, year-end and internal audit support, Sarbanes-Oxley documentation/compliance, physical inventory counts, and support of budget and forecast activities.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance required.
• Experience: 5-7 years in finance or accounting roles.
• Hands on project accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee finance and accounting for the Ohio/Michigan locations.
• Weekly financial forecasting and monthly reconciliations.
• Review projects to determine proper revenue recognition for weekly forecast.
• Monthly close by day 2.
• Prepare journal entries and manage standard costing, labor rates, overhead allocations, prepayments, accruals.
• Monthly variance analysis.
• Deliver accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting to corporate including year end supplemental financial and tax schedules.
• Annual operating and capital budget preparation.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley procedures and support quarterly testing.
• Support Internal and external audits.
• Coordinate and manage annual physical count of all inventories including reconciliation to the G/L balances.
• Solid knowledge and experience of job costing, WIP (Work-in-progress) schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting and retention billing.
• Annual fixed asset physical, and maintenance of fixed assets including depreciation in FAS Sage.
• Lease accounting in Costar.
• Sales & Use tax filings.
