About The Position

The Controller manages the accounting department of TruFit Athletic Clubs. The Controller is a “hands-on” position and is expected to prepare month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and collaborate with the finance department as well as club and district level leaders. The Controller is expected to be self-motivated, self-reliant, organized, driven to succeed, and able to manage concurrent projects and assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • A strong passion for the fitness industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of Accounting/Finance experience, including previous supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the full accounting cycle.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite of products - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or other similar multi-entity integrated accounting software.
  • Well organized, proactive, must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters.
  • Ability to adhere to a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain open, direct, positive, and objective lines of communication with management.

Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”) member, you will partner closely with SLT to provide timely and accurate financial data, so they can effectively manage their areas of responsibility.
  • Manage the month-end close process accurately and on time, in alignment with corporate deadlines.
  • Prepare monthly and annual reconciliations and financial reports and statements to ensure compliance with various statutory requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of fixed assets and other financial data.
  • Maintain accounting controls and audit documents.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain and reconcile accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of various special reports as directed.
  • Oversee the timely payment and accuracy of sales and use tax returns.
  • Assist with external audit requests and provide the requested information.
  • Assist in the review for proper accounting treatment for all transactions.
  • Provide technical accounting support to various departments.
  • Assist with the development, review, and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists, and related documentation concerning assigned functions and responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
