About The Position

A large ($100M+), growing home improvement company is seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to lead and scale the Accounting function. This role is responsible for the overall financial integrity of the organization, providing leadership across all accounting operations while partnering with executive leadership to support business growth. The Controller will oversee a team of 20 and ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and process improvements in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant leadership experience in a Controller or senior accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience establishing internal controls and improving accounting processes.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to partner cross-functionally and influence decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; experience with Sage Intacct preferred.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, tax, and certain HR-related financial functions.
  • Direct the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including oversight of account reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accounting processes, systems, and efficiencies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team; establish performance goals and foster a culture of accountability and growth.
  • Oversee financial aspects of HR functions, including payroll, benefits administration, and related compliance for employees and subcontractors.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and CPA firm to ensure successful audits, year-end close, and tax filings.
  • Support organizational growth through scalable financial infrastructure and system optimization (including ERP systems such as Sage Intacct).
