About The Position

As Controller, you'll own the integrity and scalability of Minno's accounting function at a critical inflection point. You'll partner directly with the CFO to build the systems, controls, and processes that support a growing, content-driven subscription business—while preparing the company for audits, fundraising diligence, and increasing revenue complexity across subscriptions, publishing, and content licensing. Minno is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to own and scale our accounting function as the business grows. This is a highly visible role at a pivotal stage of the company, with increasing revenue complexity, expanding content production, evolving regulatory requirements, and future fundraising on the horizon. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring accounting accuracy, financial compliance, and operational rigor today, while building systems, processes, and controls that support the business tomorrow. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to operate pragmatically in a fast-moving, growth-stage environment.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior ownership of accounting operations.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP Experience with media, entertainment, subscription, SaaS, or IP-driven businesses.
  • Hands-on experience with content accounting (capitalization, amortization, licensing).
  • Experience overseeing tax compliance and regulatory obligations in a growing company Proven ability to scale accounting systems, processes, and controls.
  • Comfort operating in a startup or high-growth environment CPA required.

  • Experience supporting fundraising, financial diligence, or audit preparation
  • Familiarity with accounting systems and financial process automation
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve accounting workflows and reporting efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close process, general ledger, and financial statements in accordance with GAAP Ensure accurate accounting across multiple revenue streams, including subscriptions, publishing, and content licensing.
  • Oversee content accounting, including capitalization, amortization, and impairment of produced and licensed content Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies as the business and content slate grow.
  • Oversee financial compliance and coordination of tax, regulatory, and required filings Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and consultants Support audit readiness, financial diligence, and investor-related reviews.
  • Design and implement scalable accounting processes, internal controls, and documentation.
  • Optimize financial systems and integrations across accounting, billing, and content data sources.
  • Manage and develop a Senior Staff Accountant, with opportunity to build the team over time.
  • Partner cross-functionally with content, publishing, product, operations, and legal teams.
  • Partner with the CFO to forecast cash flow and manage working capital, ensuring liquidity is aligned with production plans, growth initiatives, and revenue timing.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and comfort leveraging emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to automate workflows, enhance reporting, improve accuracy, and increase team efficiency.
