About The Position

MONTICELLOAM, LLC and its affiliates (“Monticello”) is a real estate and asset-based lender providing asset management and comprehensive capital solutions for healthcare, multifamily, and commercial real estate assets throughout the US. Monticello is seeking leaders and team players who can work in a collaborative environment and possess drive, integrity, creativity, compassion, and a strong work ethic. We are seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance across Monticello’s portfolio company, Trustwell Living, which owns and manages assisted living communities nationwide. The primary responsibilities and qualifications include:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior management or controller role.
  • Experience in property level accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Netsuite Oracle, AVID, Ramp, Sage Intacct, Aline (or comparable senior living software) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Work in the office, as required by office policy

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in assisted living, healthcare, multi family or multi-site operations strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Kyriba or similar treasury management systems preferred but not required.
  • Experience in Corporate and fund accountancy preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and financial reporting across multiple assisted living communities.
  • Prepare and review consolidated GAAP financial statements and ensure timely month-end and year-end close.
  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; manage annual audits and external advisors.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in partnership with leadership.
  • Manage and develop accounting staff and partner with operations to support business objectives.
  • Oversee cash management, bank accounts, disbursements, and payment controls.
  • Ensure timely bank reconciliations, cash forecasting, and funding of payroll and vendor payments.
  • Track capital expenditures and support liquidity planning and reporting.
  • Lead finance systems strategy, including ERP, AP, payroll, and reporting tools.
  • Manage data integrity, system implementations, and migrations, ensuring accuracy, controls, and scalability.
  • Drive process improvement, automation, and standardized reporting across communities.
