About The Position
Cherry Bekaert is partnering with a long-standing client on a confidential direct-hire search for a hands-on Controller to support a growing, fast-paced organization. This is a critical hire and will serve as a key right-hand partner to senior finance leadership. Location: Fully remote; however, candidates must be located in South Florida and able to attend monthly in-person team meetings in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area. An annual out of state trip to company headquarters is required. Compensation: Salary targeted up to $100,000. Role Overview This Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and play a hands-on role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and operational continuity. The position partners closely with the senior finance leadership and manages an offshore accounting team.
Requirements
- Collaborative communication style and strong team leadership skills
- Proven senior accounting leadership experience
- Strong hands-on accounting background
- NetSuite ERP and strong excel experience is required
- Technical accounting experience, including ASC 606 and ASC 842
- Inventory management and accounting experience
- Demonstrated initiative, ownership mindset, and ability to operate in a dynamic environment
Nice To Haves
- CPA preferred
- Experience in a multi-entity environment preferred
- E-Commerce experience preferred and familiar with platforms such as Shopify, BigCommerce, Givee, and Stripe
- Sales and use tax compliance experience preferred
- Retail and/or distribution industry experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, and oversight of AP
- Serve as a hands-on partner to senior finance leadership, proactively identifying issues and driving solutions
- Supervise and collaborate with an offshore accounting team
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and oversee technical accounting matters including revenue recognition and lease accounting standards (ASC 606 and ASC 842)
- Oversee inventory accounting in a high-volume transactional environment
- Support process improvements and documentation to enhance efficiency and controls
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to support business initiatives
