About The Position

Wavelynx Technologies is a leader in the security industry, specializing in the design and manufacturing of cutting-edge electronics for credentialing and access control. We are seeking a Controller to lead our accounting team and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, as well as oversee all aspects of the accounting cycle, supervise a team of Accounting professionals, and play a key role in financial compliance. Location: During the first 90 days, this role will be in the office 5 days a week at our Headquarters in Broomfield, CO. After 90 days, up to two days a week may be remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Prior Manufacturing experience, including inventory management and product costing, is required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and systems with experience in NetSuite preferred, with strong ERP experience required with a mid-tier software solution.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with data analysis.
  • Direct experience in managing external audits with third-party CPA firms.
  • Experience with managing and directing external audit and tax partnerships
  • Experience with 1099s and addressing other state and local tax compliance matters.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting operations
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
  • Implement and maintain accounting systems and processes to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Produce monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Oversee the annual audit process, including the tax provision.
  • Become a subject matter expert in NetSuite and help partner with the CFO on optimizing the company’s NetSuite instance.
  • Administrative oversight of the Company’s credit card program.
  • In partnership with the CFO, coordinate all tax filings, quarterly estimated tax payments, and SALT filings and studies with our third-party tax advisor.
  • Business Process definition and optimization
  • Collaboratively work with all departments of the business to understand how the business operates. Define and recommend best practices in areas such as supply chain, logistics, procurement, and manufacturing, and provide this influence in a consultative and progressive manner.
  • Make sure processes are documented, repeatable, and accurate to produce financial results
  • Ensure systems are implemented where appropriate to transact and record business in alignment with accounting practices
  • Develop metrics and reporting to influence changes in the business structure and operational behavior to improve profitability.
  • Recommend efficiency and profitability improvements as needed.
  • Compliance and internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend adjustments to leadership as necessary.
  • Team management and development
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members on accounting issues and best practices.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Manage and oversee accounting functions.
  • Staffing decisions in the Finance Department, under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Performance evaluations of department staff.
