The Controller will provide essential support to the CFO and management team, overseeing all aspects of general ledger and financial reporting. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles and practices to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Controller will manage the accounting team, ensuring efficient allocation of work and adherence to deadlines while addressing various accounting activities such as job costing and year-end audits.

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate the timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information.
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled on a timely basis and month-end binder is complete with supporting schedules.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Staff.
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and resource use while maintaining accuracy.
  • Advise accounting staff and other departments on handling non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Work with direct reports to establish goals and objectives and monitor progress for professional development.
  • Assist the CFO in preparing and updating accounting policy SOPs for implementation throughout the department.
  • Support CFO with special projects.
  • Manage and maintain a cash flow projection to manage working capital requirements.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and payroll journal entries.
  • Process and pay operating expenses such as rent, insurance, and utilities.
  • Prepare standard journal entries for prepaid, accrued expenses, and depreciation.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset and intangible schedules, prepaid and accrued expense schedules, and credit card accounts.
  • Reconcile customer deposit accounts and accounts payable, accounts receivable, and retainage.
  • Close job inventory and job work orders.
  • Conduct financial analysis and reporting on job profitability.
  • Attend bi-weekly AR meetings and material meetings for prepaid inventory.
  • Complete and submit vendor credit applications and set up new vendors.
  • BS in Accounting
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in real estate development, property management, or construction industry.
  • Experience with Structure is a plus.
  • CPA
  • Competitive salary range of $110,000 - $130,000 per year
  • Full-time position with Monday through Friday workdays
