The Controller position at Stackhouse Development is a pivotal leadership role within a dynamic family office managing approximately $1 billion in assets under management (AUM). This role is based in the RTP Office, requiring in-office presence for more than four days a week. The family office operates across various sectors, including property management, local storage construction, and land development, with revenues exceeding $70 million and a dedicated workforce of around 110 employees spread across 10 states. As the Controller, you will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for leading and building a team of 6-8 accounting professionals. This hands-on position demands a strong accounting background, exceptional leadership skills, and a robust work ethic, as you will be driving excellence in financial management, controls, and reporting within a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will actively manage accounting and controls for the family office, overseeing and enhancing accounting processes across various operations. Your responsibilities will include managing accounting for 87 manufactured housing communities, which encompass 8,300 lots and 6,700 residents, as well as handling accounting for a $120 million local construction pipeline and overseeing land development transaction and tax accounting for over 1,000 acres in development. You will also be responsible for corporate accounting, trusts, and family office finance planning, ensuring timely and reliable accounting and reporting data. The ideal candidate will have a CPA designation and a proven track record in public accounting, with over five years of experience as a manager. You should have experience in building or rebuilding accounting teams in similar or larger organizations, as well as operational experience in property management or commercial construction. A keen attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, and a passion for building a strong and lasting accounting team are essential attributes for success in this role.
