About The Position

United Dairy Farmers is seeking a Controller for Non Retail located at the Corporate Office in Norwood, OH. The Controller - Non Retail will direct and manage the financial reporting of the UDF non-retail divisions (Food Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehousing, Wholesale). This position will be responsible for all aspects of the budgeting process for the Non-Retail Groups and monitor monthly analysis of financial results. This key position works closely with all levels of management and staff to provide meaningful insight and continuous improvement to the company's profitability and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 6-10 years of progressive and relevant accounting and management experience
• Understanding and application of accounting principles, concepts and practices
• Accounting systems experience
• Manufacturing /Warehouse/Logistics/ Retail Accounting experience is a plus
• Convenience Store experience a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and analytical software (i.e. MS BI)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills. Ability to analyze how a system works (i.e. be able to determine where inputs are coming from, determine how system changes will affect the output, etc).
• Must be interested in learning what drives the business and not just performing the accounting function
• Communicate concisely, accurately and in the appropriate manner with peers and operational personnel
• Self-motivated, results driven, detail oriented, ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide training, guidance and direction to employees to ensure work is performed in an efficient, timely and accurate manner
• Assist with the monthly close process through the preparation of general ledger journal entries and accruals, account reconciliations, supporting schedules and financial reporting. This includes reviewing account analysis, investigating variances and issue resolution.
• Review the monthly financial information and work with the non-retail leadership to evaluate options and implement recommendations. Participate in presentations of the analysis to the Executive Leadership Team.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget including processing data and review for reasonableness and accuracy with respect to prior year, current budget and historical trends.
• Coordinate year-end financial statement audit
• Proactively identify opportunities to streamline or improve existing accounting processes
• Work with Non-Retail leadership to provide improved KPI's for operations.
• Evaluate financial systems for appropriateness and identify opportunities of better collecting information and reporting financial results
• Assist with special projects and other job duties as assigned by the CFO and operational personnel
