About The Position

Position Summary: The Plant Controller is responsible for adhering to the Company’s Accounting Policies and Procedures by establishing a strong Internal Control environment in the facility. This position has complete responsibility for P&L and Balance Sheet creation and integrity, to include all necessary analysis of the results. They will manage the accounting staff as applicable and will operate as a business partner for the Plant Manager by identifying financial and operational risks and opportunities in advance and communicate them accordingly. Primary Responsibilities: Counsels and advises Plant Manager and department personnel on financial and accounting matters. Involved in strategic planning and analysis for Plant operations. Oversight of, and direct involvement in, the entire facilities accounting function, including ownership of the business’ books and records. This includes all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, and reporting functions associated with general ledger management, external and internal audit management. Responsible for adherence to the Company’s Accounting Policies and Procedures. Establishes a strong Internal Control environment in the Plant. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement of financial performance in accordance with corporate objectives and communicate and pursue such opportunities. Assists Plant Management team in establishing annual budget and forecast. Presents financial plan and forecasts with Plant Manager to Senior Management. Monitor expenditures in accordance with company fiscal policy, monitor and project investment cash flow. Conducts annual burden studies to determine standard cost and quote rates for manufactured products. Coordinates cost accounting issues and the annual standard cost revision between division and plant personnel. Reconciles balance sheet accounts monthly, identifies any areas of risk/exposure. Co-supervises, with Materials managers, and audits physical inventories. Participates in establishing and maintaining auditing cost standards for performance measurement and inventory evaluations. Assists in audits performed by Division, Company and/or external auditors. Publishes slides and related comments for the monthly operations reviews with salary and factory personnel. Reviews purchasing cost changes and their impact to operations due to price, volume or the resourcing of business. Will be an integral part in leading the implementation of SAP within Plant Environment. Includes ERP replacement of legacy and ensure proper costing, BOM/Routing, and financial integrity of implementation as applicable by location. May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Five years of Accounting/Finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of six months of supervisory experienced required
  • Possess the necessary managerial skills to plan, organize, lead and control the Accounting functions
  • Must be able to analyze financial statements and manufacturing variances
  • Experienced in SAP and SAP BI preferred
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with manufacturing processes, how BOM’s & routings, labor reporting, standard costing and overhead allocations
  • Must be familiar with budgeting / forecasting processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization
  • Ability to apply understanding of the business and how own team contributes to the achievement of results
  • Requires in-depth understanding and application of concepts, theories and principles in own discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
