About The Position

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for accounting support to the production plants and Tyson corporate accounting departments. Responsibilities include - performing analyses on product costing, product yields, pricing models, gross margins, and special projects. This position will work closely with management in operations, plant accounting, and corporate accounting. This position is responsible for managing all accounting activities for the processing plant. Specific objectives include but may not be limited to management of cost and variance analysis, payroll, product costing, weekly and monthly closing, balance sheet reviews, and the development of the annual budget. This position also oversees the financials for capital projects; ensuring that projects are properly documented and that project approvals are met in accordance with company policy. Other duties include staffing, supervising, and developing salary and clerical employees and ensuring generally accepted accounting principles are adhered to as well as Tyson accounting policies which may involve in-house auditing of books and inventories. The primary function of this role is to lead the accounting staff to maintain financial control of the assets entrusted to them and to be a business partner to the operations team and other support functions to provide financial insight that leads toward improved business practices.

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree required. Accounting Finance major preferred. 12 hours minimum Accounting required.
  • 4 plus years supervisory experience preferred
  • Poultry product knowledge or related experience a plus.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft EXCEL and data base systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential.
  • Analytical and data management skills are essential.
  • This position is responsible for supervising a management support team member.
