BAE Systems is searching for a Control Systems Technician to join our growing Electrical & Instrument Services team in troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating a variety of electrical/pneumatic industrial control and monitoring instrumentation utilized in production and utility environments. Primary responsibilities include: preventive and/or corrective maintenance for process and analytical instrumentation used for production/utility operations; fire systems and RF systems maintenance; working with various communication protocols including: HART, Profibus PA/DP, Ethernet, and fiber optic; troubleshooting control systems associated with: pumps, motors, control valves, VFD's; scale calibrations and repairs; job scoping for materials / parts needs; and assisting Electricians with repairs. Associates degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or Electromechanical Technology desired. Assist with maintaining electrical and pneumatic instrumentation and control systems in reliable working condition through execution of preventive and corrective maintenance as required. Calibration and configuration of process control and utility instrumentation. Troubleshooting / repair / and programming of fire alarm systems, portable radios, and other RF communication systems. Installation, configuration, and maintenance of electrical and pneumatic instrumentation that monitor/control temperature, humidity, flow, level, pressure, gas, pH, TOC, ORP, and conductivity in continuous production and plant utilities applications. Upkeep of calibration records in in CMMS program. Creation/revision of calibration procedures in accordance with OEM recommendations and application. Document detailed corrective/preventive maintenance actions for CMMS program. Assist Engineering with project implementation for modifications, upgrades, and installation of new equipment and/or control systems. Ability to utilize forklift, hand tools, and electronic test equipment including multi-meters, calibrators, communicators, oscilloscope, process meter, and calibration test standards. Record keeping of calibrations & upkeep of standards. Ability to use electrical schematics, single lines, P&ID’s, shop mathematics, handbook formulas, and precision measuring instruments. Perform complicated duties or assignments involving a fairly comprehensive knowledge of equipment/materials and process to meet customer, quality, and performance standards. Maintain a working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA, and OSHA Safety Procedures. Willing to support plant operations in after hours emergency call-in / on-call / shift situations. Adherence to all Plant Protection Standards, PPE requirements, Company Policies, & Guidelines. Other duties as determined by Team Leader or Department Manager.
