If you’re ready to grow with us and become part of our vision of being the premier Chemical Company, apply today!  IntroductionChevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Control Systems Supervisor to join the Technical Team for the Golden Triangle Polymers facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the commissioning, startup, and operation of a new sophisticated facility from the ground up.   The position works closely with operations and provides support for DCS and PLC related maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization and project implementation so the producing assets can run safely, efficiently, and reliably. Initially, this position will be focused on ensuring the plant is properly commissioned and supporting a safe, orderly, and timely start-up of the facility. Following startup, the job functions will transition to a more traditional role characterized by normal plant operations.

Requirements

  • An associate degree in instrumentation or electronics with at least 5 years of experience in this field, such as maintenance service work performed on DCS and PLC equipment OR High School with at least 7 years of equivalent experience in this field, such as maintenance service work performed on DCS and PLC equipment 
  • Must have a basic understanding of electronic theory and digital logic system
  • Must be capable of instructing maintenance personnel in troubleshooting techniques and maintenance procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV Control System
  • Ethylene or polyethylene manufacturing experience
  • Experience with configuring and maintaining Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs
  • Experience in instrumentation configuration and electrical systems
  • Exposure to Network Infrastructure in OT Environment

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly PMs on the DCS and PLC systems to maintain the integrity of the system
  • Performs minor software program modifications on computer and microprocessor systems such as DCS (DeltaV, Honeywell, ABB, Yokogawa, etc) and PLC (Modicon, Allen Bradley, Triconex)
  • Assists Control Systems Specialists and IEC Engineers with design and implementation of projects that involve modification to control systemsLeads the execution of MICE Instrumented Protective Systems (IPS) PMs to maintain the integrity of the system
  • Consults with operations and I&E maintenance personnel to determine remedies for problems associated with malfunctioning control system instrumentation and recommends corrective action
  • Assists in the checkout of instrument control loops in existing plants or plant expansions and works with contractors to insure proper installation
  • Provides 24-hour on call Control Systems support
