About The Position

We are seeking a Control Systems Engineering Manager to join our federal team supporting our Oak Ridge, TN office. In this role, you would be responsible for leading the technical approach and scope development for HVAC controls/Building Automation System projects at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. This would include responsibility in controls engineering, project estimating, execution, and maintaining relationships with customers and contractors. Oak Ridge National Laboratory is home to the world’s fastest Supercomputer. Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility in the construction or building technologies industry
  • Prior experience in the leadership of technical, engineering groups
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, especially in presentation of technical material
  • The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances and badges as required. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Nice To Haves

  • Past experience working with designs for Federal Government customers where incorporation of Federal specifications, Federal Acquisitions Regulations, and use of government protocols have been exercised
  • Recognized as a leading expert in several core engineering competencies
  • Understands accounting principles and cost management
  • Metasys programming experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplined teams of technicians, subcontractors, and chiller mechanics for large, complex projects including various technologies and protocols, with strong skill sets to include HVAC and building controls. Primary customers are Federal Government agencies.
  • Leads the technical approach and solutions for proposals and programs
  • Employs practices and develops processes to ensure cost effective engineering while providing consistent delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Establishes and implements continuous improvement measures to increase productivity within the team and across the Federal organization.
  • Responsible for annual M&V reports, data collection, and customer presentations.
  • Supports regional teams with engineering drawings and Metasys programming
  • Manages subcontractors, writes scopes of work, provides estimates, and supervision installation of assigned projects
  • Manages assigned projects and schedules the workload of the team. Prioritizes work, supervises and coordinates projects to insure progress and timely completion of the engineering deliverables. Provides timeframe estimates to project management for job cost evaluation. Supports forecasting and billing activities as needed.
  • Develops, implements, monitors and communicates the Systems Engineering team processes, strategies and standards. Leads the development of engineering cost estimates and detailed technical proposals during project development phases
  • Develops and maintains relationships with customers. Serves as the main interface with customer technical leadership as the technical voice of our Federal business. Analyzes customer requirements and requests.
  • Partners with teams to insure timely delivery of engineering and project deliverables in order to maximize successful execution of projects
  • Seek out new and creative applications and operational techniques. Implements improvements in the processes, facilities, tools and equipment to improve quality, reliability, productivity, and to provide leading edge technologies
