About The Position

The opportunity Mipac is expanding into the US and has recently opened a new office in Tucson, Arizona. This is an exciting opportunity for a Control Systems Engineer to join the team early in its growth and play a key role in shaping Mipac’s local and global project delivery. As a Control Systems Engineer at Mipac, you’ll gain exposure to large‑scale, technically complex projects, working across mining, mineral processing, and heavy industry clients worldwide. You will have opportunities to travel to international project locations, including potentially Africa, Peru, and Canada, and to collaborate with experienced engineers across Mipac’s global offices. This role offers the chance to accelerate your technical development through hands‑on involvement with multiple control platforms, diverse project scopes, and real‑world commissioning environments, all while being supported by a collaborative, technically strong team.

Requirements

  • A willingness and readiness to travel nationally and internationally, supporting projects across a variety of operating environments. Travel duration will be project‑dependent.
  • Experience working in a project‑based engineering environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with PLC programming and exposure to industrial control system architectures.
  • Experience with SCADA configuration and development (e.g. Citect, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, Cimplicity).
  • Experience generating and interpreting engineering documentation such as functional descriptions, alarm registers, cause & effect matrices, commissioning plans, and inspection and test plans.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and project teams.
  • Participation in site work and commissioning activities, with guidance from senior engineers where required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally, experience in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or similar operational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of control systems for mining, mineral processing, and related projects, in line with engineering standards and client requirements.
  • Apply developing technical knowledge and problem‑solving skills to deliver control system solutions for moderately complex engineering tasks, with guidance from senior engineers where required.
  • Contribute to control system deliverables within project teams, including design documentation, specifications, procedures, and reports.
  • Participate in technical reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to support effective communication and project outcomes.
  • Participate in site visits and commissioning activities to support installation, testing, and operational readiness of control systems.
  • Apply company, client, and industry standards and procedures, building professional judgement through mentored experience.
