The Control Electrician II is responsible for maintaining and supporting the electrical and control systems for all manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facilities to ensure the safe and efficient production of quality products. This position serves as the first responder to system failures, quickly determining whether issues stem from control systems or mechanical components. The Control Electrician II performs hands-on troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance of electrical and control equipment, and plays a key role in diagnosing system malfunctions, accessing PLCs, and interpreting ladder logic diagrams to expedite resolution. Responsibilities include diagnosing three-phase motor and drive failures, maintaining documentation in accordance with cGMP and company standards, and ensuring all work is completed with a high level of quality and safety. The Control Electrician II also supports project-based work and collaborates closely with Engineering and Maintenance Management to uphold operational reliability across the facility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of seven (7) years related job experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with industrial equipment, wiring diagrams, and circuit level troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as, but not limited to, safety instructions, standard operating procedures, policies, and manuals. Ability to write clearly and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages. Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding and effective application of written and oral instruction.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to quickly adapt and learn new manufacturing software systems.

  • Must be able to safely operate light/heavy equipment as relates to the completion of tasks and duties
  • Experience in working with medium voltages, multi-phase motor controls and heating circuits along with vacuum, pressure, and temperature control circuits.
  • Must pass a background check

  • May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening
  • Must pass pre-employment assessment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain gowning certification
  • May be required to obtain and maintain media qualification
  • May be required to wear a respirator

Nice To Haves

  • State Electrical License, preferred
  • The understanding of sensor circuits such as thermocouple, RTD, humidity and proximity sensors is strongly desired along with the knowledge of industrial control circuits.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and modify electrical and control systems for production equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
  • Respond immediately to system failures to determine root cause—whether electrical, control-related, or mechanical—and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty three-phase motors, motor drives, and related components as needed.
  • Access and interpret PLC programs and ladder logic diagrams to identify control system faults and support troubleshooting efforts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems to ensure operational reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including maintenance logs, wiring diagrams, schematics, and controlled documentation in compliance with cGMP requirements.
  • Complete maintenance work orders and associated forms in a timely, clear, and compliant manner.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures outlined in equipment manuals and company policies.
  • Provide support for capital projects, equipment upgrades, and other engineering or maintenance initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and contribute to overall equipment and facility performance through quality-focused maintenance practices.
  • Read/interpret SOPs to ensure compliance
  • Maintain up to date trainings
  • Other duties as assigned
