About The Position

Responsible for STLA’s control board product development and verification for electric vehicle platforms which may include mHEV, HEV, PHEV and BEV. Manage a global team of DREs responsible to deliver Power Inverter Module Control and Gate Driver Boards in support of STLA 2030 Dare Forward Strategy. Hire and train new engineers in STLA CB/GDB schematic and development processes. Support local CB/GDB testing and debug activities as needed. Work with technical subject matter experts to develop cost effective and reliable control boards using cutting edge technologies, simulation tools, and test and evaluation equipment. Oversee Power Inverter Module (PIM) Control Board sourcing activities, including development of source packages, conducting supplier technical review meetings, and providing engineering assessment of each supplier’s proposal. Review and approve Change Notices for all design changes. Interface with the extended development team to integrate the control board within the PIM and Electronic Drive Module (EDM). Support creating Component Specifications from vehicle, system and software requirements including requirements for Durability, Warranty, Safety and Performance at component level. Participate in supplier assessments working closely with DREs and technical subject matter experts. Work with the chosen suppliers and manufacturing entities to ensure designs are robust to customer requirements, meet exact function, and are manufacturable without defect. Participate in post-test inspection reviews including detailed failure analysis and recommend changes to product specifications as necessary. Track progress of component development, verification, and production both internally and externally. Assist Issue Resolution and tracking at Technical, Program, Production and Financial levels. Assist reporting progress and status of component development at various team level meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related and 4 years of experience in job offered or in electronics design and development or related.
  • Alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related and 2 years of experience in job offered or in electronics design and development or related.
  • Experience must include: design and development of critical inverter systems for automotive applications; reviewing mechanical and electrical CAD drawings; working with Power Electronic Components and Motor Control; adapting mechanical assembly procedures to ensure the efficient completion of shop orders; and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of completed control panels while following the proper safety procedures during hardware testing.
