This Position reports to: Director of Sales - Traction In this role, you will lead the provision of contract management services within the assigned area of responsibility, ensuring that all contract management activities are executed in accordance with the relevant corporate/division/business policies and procedures, as well as the Contract Management Policy and Contract Management Framework. The work model for the role is: Onsite; Richmond, VA (Open to remote anywhere) This role is contributing to the Motion Traction Division .

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline, Preference toward Electrical Eng. or Advanced Electrical training.
  • 3-5 years Key Account Management Sales and related management experience with a track record of successful performance
  • 5+ years of overall professional experience
  • Railway market knowledge and technical understanding of power control systems.
  • Business development experience, rail industry preferred.
  • Able to deal with complex topics within international cross functional teams
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to listen and interpret real customer needs.
  • Balanced and agile behavioral competencies.
  • Travel up to 50%
  • Ability to travel in USA, Canada and Internationally on a regular basis (Valid passport will be required).
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the portfolio of contract management services within the assigned area of responsibility follow contract and claim management methodologies in accordance with Contract Management Framework, best practices and relevant policies and procedures
  • Analyzes the contract terms to highlight the areas of potential opportunity and risk, such as ambiguities, omissions, and conflicts, throughout the project lifecycle. Supports in due diligence and preparation of considerations for bid go/no-go decisions based on risk assessment of contracting environment and facilitates liaison with involved stakeholders as required
  • Reviews and comments on tender terms and conditions including relevant schedules and annexes
  • Develops contract management strategy in line with ABB’s policies and procedures, customer requirements, and the overall execution strategy, considering the risk, pricing, scope, and schedule. Participates in the development of the contract negotiation strategy and supports contract negotiations in line with Contract Management Policy, within the portfolio of contracts assigned for contract management support
  • Identifies/ coordinates the identification of the contract baseline and highlights the areas of potential risk
  • Advises on contractual issues in line with Contract Management Policy and ensures timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects in the portfolio of contracts assigned for the contract management support (i.e., payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.). Verifies that both parties to the contract have fulfilled their contractual obligations and are free of any outstanding responsibilities
  • Assesses the success of the contract and determines if there are any lessons learned for future contracting. Documents and communicates to all appropriate parties about any deficiencies found as part of the closeout process
  • Establishes and enforces standard change methodologies within the assigned scope of responsibility to identify changes and quantify the additional time and compensation due for ABB as per the contract, defines approval requirements, and communicates changes to the customer. Enforces and defends ABB's contractual interests against customers and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle, including monitoring and assessment of changes and deviations, as well as defending and enforcing commercial claims
  • Develops and implements risk mitigation and opportunity plans within the portfolio of contracts assigned for the contract management support, in concert with the business unit(s) management and relevant Business Area and Division global functions
  • Notifies and liaises with the ABB Legal and Integrity function to report major claims and keeps them updated of any critical developments during project execution
