About The Position

Hachette Book Group’s summer internship program offers individuals an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and explore an area of interest. To learn more about the company, visit our career site: https://www.hachettebookgroup.com/about/careers/ Program dates : June 1st, 2026 – End date: August 6th, 2026 Location: NYC Hybrid (up to three days per week on-site as needed ) Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program. Weekly schedule : 28 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Pay rate : $17.00/hour As an HBG Contracts Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend team and departmental meetings. Contracts’ hybrid summer intern will support our team by assisting Contracts staff with daily tasks and projects. We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to learn about the business side of the publishing industry. To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company as well as networking and career development opportunities. Who you are: Interested in exploring a career in the business side of publishing Self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Possess a great attitude and a desire to learn as well as excellent organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute insights Resourceful with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and work independently to meet deadlines Must be results driven, and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide general assistance for the Contracts Department (including sending DocuSign envelopes, uploading digital documents into our Publishing Database System, scheduling meetings, etc.)
  • Registering primary format titles for copyright and mailing deposit copies (as needed)
  • Draft Subsidiary Rights agreements and amendments as they may arise
  • Assisting in the full execution process in our Title Management system, as well as maintaining Contracts systems data
  • Field general Contracts inquiries
