About The Position

One of our clients, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that provides government contracting to various government agencies, has multiple openings for Contract Specialists . These immediate openings are contract-to-hire positions , with an initial period on contract before becoming a full-time employee. These are hybrid roles that work 3 days in the office, located on 12th Street NW in Washington, DC . Candidates for these openings must have had, or be able to obtain, a Public Trust. JOB DESCRIPTION: USAID is seeking a Termination Contract Specialist. The specialist will provide expert guidance on the procedural, legal, and operational requirements for terminating contracts, ensuring compliance with USAID and U.S. Government regulations. This is a hybrid, full-time role working closely with Contracting Officers (COs), legal counsel, technical offices, and partners.

Requirements

  • Individuals must have demonstrated abilities to assimilate and apply knowledge on all types of award mechanisms quickly and efficiently.
  • Capability to quickly assimilate new information and become proficient in topics for which they may not have knowledge, e.g. Government to Government, Title II, Interagency Awards, and Public International Organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business preferred
  • FAC-C Professional or CFCM.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on terminations for convenience or default of contracts.
  • Prepare all required documentation for award terminations, including termination notices, determinations and findings, negotiation memoranda, and settlement agreements.
  • Interpret and apply applicable sections of the FAR and USAID supplemental regulations and policies.
  • Process actions in USAID’s contracts and financial management system.
  • Coordinate with the Office of General Counsel, technical teams, and implementing partners to manage the termination process.
  • Assess financial, contractual, and programmatic implications of terminations and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure post-termination actions, including audits, final payments, and closeouts, are completed in compliance with USAID policy.
  • Develop guidance, templates, and training materials to strengthen USAID’s institutional approach to award terminations.
