About The Position

PURPOSE Initiate/Complete engineering projects by planning, organizing and controlling all elements of the project. Supervise or assist development and implementation aspects of the project. Oversee facility upgrades and completion of other project-related work.

Requirements

  • B.S., Mechanical Engineering or equivalent or Industrial Construction Management with 3 years of experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing setting is preferred
  • Solid knowledge in managing construction projects, engineering principles, practices, and methods, the manufacturing process, environmental regulations, engineering project management methods, workplace safety, budgeting, employee supervision and personnel management
  • Flexible and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competent in multitasking.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical with strong mathematical skills and quick thinking
  • Strong leadership skills; must be self-directed
  • Must work on site at the Loparex Iowa City facility 40 hours per week, for a duration of 6 months with possible extension.
  • Must pass all three pre-employment testings. (Lifting test, drug test, and background check.)

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD, Solidworks, and/or other CAD experience is preferred
  • Coating/Converting experience desirable, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans and proposals then work with management to develop project objectives.
  • Identify project responsibilities by determining the phases and elements of the project.
  • Calculate time frames and sequences the stages of the project.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and activities.
  • Study project design, stakeholder requirements, performance standards, then determine project specifications.
  • Present cost estimates and performance standards.
  • Conduct tests assuring safe and satisfactory product performance.
  • Design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment and machinery.
  • May be involved in fabrication, operation, application and/or repair of mechanical products.
  • Review contractor bids if applicable, interview and assign personnel to specific phases and elements of the project.
  • Lead project coordination meetings and other forms of communication, oversee and coordinate the technical aspects of the project.
  • Prepare status reports and regularly monitor budgets, contractors and schedules.
  • Allocate project resources appropriately, approve expenditures, employee contractor contracts.
  • Keep an accurate record and electronic database of all elements of projects.
  • Present procedures, rules and regulations to those involved in the project; maintain a safe, clean and productive environment through enforcing procedures.
  • Maintain project integrity and reputation through compliance with state and federal regulations.
