About The Position

The Contract Manager supports the health system’s procurement and supply chain functions by managing end-to-end processes of contracting for clinical and non-clinical spend categories, including the development, negotiation, execution, and maintenance of contracts for goods and services. This role ensures best value by leveraging strong contract management practices, vendor performance oversight, and compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements. The Contract Manager collaborates closely with Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, and clinical stakeholders to support operational efficiency, cost optimization, and high-quality vendor relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in contract management, vendor management, supplier performance, or procurement, preferably in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management, contracting processes, vendor performance management, and healthcare purchasing principles.
  • Knowledgeable in accounting principles, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and supplier/market research.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, ERP systems, Contract Management Software, supply chain information systems, and EDI/GHX.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to regulatory compliance and adherence to organizational policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Health Administration (MHA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements best practices and tools for contract performance improvement, identifying dependencies, risks, and critical path issues throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Serves as an operational resource for internal teams, facilitating issue resolution, providing timely project updates, and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Contributes to quarterly or bi-annual vendor performance review meetings and ensures all actions are thoroughly followed up.
  • Maintains and ensures compliance with business operations and project-specific quality documents, including SOPs, work plans, and training guides.
  • Identifies and categorizes vendors based on annual spend thresholds and strategic sourcing priorities.
  • Prioritizes contracts using 30-60-90-120 and 180-day expiration timelines, focusing on urgency, strategic importance, and value creation opportunities.
  • Develops and executes negotiation strategies for all contracts, collaborating with Strategic Sourcing and stakeholders to optimize operational performance and vendor programs.
  • Manages vendor relationships to ensure adherence to contractual obligations, service levels, and performance standards.
  • Provides structured KPI, status, and savings reporting to stakeholders and management, ensuring accountability and transparency through agreed-upon RACI frameworks.
